Performing a tandava for the welfare of the world and to free the gods from the fear of death, after being liquefied again in the form of Hamling in the Amarnath cave, due to these characteristics Shiva is called the nationwide god of IndiaThe cave of Amarnath is a symbol of the culture, solidarity, and honesty of our country. It is here that Lord Shankar narrated the immortal story to Mother Parvati.

This journey associated with the legends of narrating the story of Amarnath from ages ago is so exciting that every living being who comes here is stunned to see this charisma of nature.

First stop of the journey Pahalgaon

Along with the tall deodar trees, the chirping sound of the Lidder river seems to greet the travelers at Pahalgaon, the gateway to the Amarnath Yatra in Kashmir, the heaven on earth. The view of the entrance to Pahalgaon is so beautiful that upon reaching there, it appears as if it is heaven.

It is said that when Lord Shiva went to narrate the immortal story to Mother Parvati, he first left his ride Nandi bull here. Pahalgam was earlier called Bailagaon, which later gradually came to be known as Pahalgaon. Arranged at a height of 7200 feet above ocean level, this picturesque city is surrounded by skyscraper ranges and the milky snow frozen on these ranges fills the human heart with thrill.

Chandanwadi

The height of 95 hundred feet above sea level and the valley of the confluence of mountain rivers are called Chandanwadi. 16 KM from Pahalgam. From this farthest floor, the footpath starts for Shiva devotees going on the journey. Even the travelers come in government or private vehicles and travel further to the hills on foot or on horseback. It is said about Chandanwadi that while going to the Amarnath cave, Bholenath had left his head with sandalwood. The stream coming from the mountains comes here and takes the form of a small river, which has to be crossed and move forward, but everyone is stunned to see the charisma that nature has shown here with the naked eye. To cross this river, nature has made an ice bridge about a hundred feet long, which is crossed and carried forward.

Flea valley

On reaching this stage of Amarnath Yatra, the movement of the travelers becomes like a flea, that is why it is called by the name of the flea valley. It is said that once the gods and demons came to see Bholenath and got entangled in the war in the jealousy of going ahead first. Then the gods requested Bholenath to withdraw from the war and by his grace, the gods killed the demons and made their powder and their ashes were piled up there. This mountain horn (peak) removes the sufferings of Shiva-devotees. It is said that if one crosses this difficult path while chanting Shiva-Shiva, then one attains Brahmalok.

Sheshnag lake like heaven's imagination

30 KM from Pahalgam. There is a feeling of a pleasant feeling as soon as you reach the distant place called Sheshnag. With the deep green-blue stream seen between the mountains, it is realized that there will be a river, but seeing the Sheshnag lake that is visible as soon as it comes out of the mountain, it seems as if the waking eyes have seen some heaven. Have you seen the scene? This place, also known as Sheshnag Sarovar, is the beginning of the Jhelum River. It is said about the lake formed in the middle of three mountains named Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh that here Bholenath had left the Sheshnag worn around his neck while going to the Amarnath cave. According to a legend, Sheshnag had made a powerful demon who had become the trouble of the gods as his grasp. Since then the name of this mountain became Sheshnag Parvat.

Mahagunas Parvat

The Mahagunas mountain comes ahead of the Sheshnag halt, the excellence of which can't be depicted in words, at a height of  14,500 feet above sea level, only courage is needed to cross this mountain. The size of this giant mountain is also amazing. On crossing it, many small and big streams and waterfalls give a feeling of great joy. It is said that Bholenath had placed son Ganesha here, which was formerly also called Mahaganesh Parvat or Ganesh Top.

Panchtarni

The third step of the journey is Panchtarni, which is 12 km from Sheshnag. Comes after traveling. The open area visible to the plain is Panchtarni, where five rivers flow in five different streams, crossing which the travelers proceed. It is said that here Bholenath took the form of Nataraja while going to the cave. When he started dancing in this form, his locks opened and the Ganges started flowing on the earth in five streams. It is also believed that Bhole Baba had renounced the five elements here. 6 km from here Next is the holy cave, which comes after crossing the Bhairav valley falling on the way.
